Hey there

I’m creating this topic again because it will be much clearer than sending a series of message on the chat haha (and because you redesigned your website )

So as some of you probably know, I’m preparing a dirt video dedicated to the Dirt Community and it comes to an end: a premiere will be aired on Saturday at the Virtual Lan 10 in France, where the TM tournament is 100% dedicated to dirt.
BUT, given to the reactivity of the community (everybody wants his team to appear in the vid ^^), I’m gonna extend that clip from 2min30 to something a bit under 4 min, with a sort of poetic credits showing the main contributors of the projects and some dedications. This will be the “real” vid, because the LAN version is designed for…a LAN ^^ (the credits are much shorter there, but the vid is the same).

Anyway, as I told nuls, I just needed your generic TM² teamcar + some Dore members’ skins based on it, so that I can put altogether in the credits

To finish, you can guess how the video will looke like and follow the progress there:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Snakys-vids/327350634027120

And thanks again for you early contributions, last year, about the project!

Hello Snaky,

currently we have no official Teamcar in TM2. The problem is here, that we cant copy paste the TM1 skin into TM2. Because of some different mapping positions on some dds files >_< .. so the full body skin works fine but tyres and some details are horrible. grrrr ..

Somebody already tried this? I don`t have time until this evening.
Pedal wrote:To get your custom car from TMF to work in TM2 Stadium you need to do the following:

-Download the same car (3d model) that you use in TMF from Maniapark to TM2, Std. Stadium, MKII,Bibi Dirtmaster HD,Bibi Stadium V2 HD.

Open the .zip of the downloaded car to see the files that makes the car and delete the following files:

-Detailsdiffuse.dds
-SkinDiffuse.dds
-Icon.dds

Open the .zip of your TMF car and extract these files to your desktop:

-Details.dds
-Diffuse.dds
-Icon.dds

When extracted, rename details.dds and diffuse.dds to the same name as the ones you deleted from your TM2/Maniaplanet 3d-model, the Icon.dds can stay the same:

-Details.dds -> DetailsDiffuse.dds
-Diffuse.dds -> SkinDiffuse.dds

Now zip these 2 files and your Icon.dds into the .zip-file of the TM2/Maniaplanet 3d-model and voila, you have your TMF skin in TM2.

if you take the standard "Nadeo StadiumCar" it don't work.
Take the Nadeo "StadiumCar mkII" and it works.

As far as i know, they don`t work, because Nadeo keeps the 3d model files to canyon (i tried some skins myself, but there is never a 3d model included, which is necessary. But maybe my infos are old)

I`m not sure with this->
Drawback of this converting from tm1 cars is, that the new skins allow higher resolution. So maybe we could achieve much better quality, if we start building the car from the beginning. Maybe I try something myself

Yep indeed, the native TMNF skins don’t really work on TM² Stadium ^^ but it’s not very hard to change as Tombuilder wrote…at least for the paintings! I converted some of the skins I’ve been given by some teams, and sometimes it’s quite boring x)
It depends mostly on the “type” of stadium skin you are converting to TM²S:
- TMNF default stadium skins
- Bibigallaz’ HD TMNF Stadium skin
- Stadium skins made on TM² Canyon

I gave it a try as well, but my screen somehow mixes the ingame texture. In profile settings it worked fine and the car seemed normal. When I joined the server it looked like this. And it's not dirt. The chassis just looks odd.

Did you edit the alpha channel of the skinDiffuse? On 0% Transparency, the car is sparkling more then a vampire in the sunlight. So it shines and reflects the environment. If it then gets additionally dirty, it looks completelly crappy (there are also many different dirt patterns for different models and some of them are really bad for dirt, because the car is completelly covered after 5 meter of driving). Maybe it`s that, just a guess!?

The Maniaplanet forum's guide said nothing about alpha channels, just renaming and stuff

Ok i find it out .. the alpha channel in skindiffuse.dds is the key for reflection .. white is 100% relection and black is no refelction. .. so snaky i will give you the skins completly new >_<

Sorry matze, i didn`t get, that you were searching for it!
I think the official definition was : 100% transparency (black alpha)--> mat, 50% transparency (grey alpha) --> shiny, 0% transparency (white alpha) --> shiny metallic. And of course all inbetween.
You can edit this in the skinDiffuse.dds in any editor with the right plugin. You can even define different levels to different parts of the skinDiffuse, meaning some parts will reflect more then others.
Here is a nice description:
http://www.maniapark.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=19137
I don`t like that reflections, my skin is at 90% transparency (see link in post 12)

Hi guys,
I also finished my car with glowing brakes and minimal dirting on the track. Pic one was before changing the values of SkinDirt.dds

Perfect! Matze gave it to me so that I don't do it myself, which I did for some other skins ^^'

Anyway, I posted a preview on the fb page, the version which was aired during the french dirt LAN. But WARNING: if you want to keep the surprise till the end, don't watch it haha A couple of minor changes + credits will change for the final version which will be a bit longer.
