Soooooo, I've had the Logitech Action Gamepad 2 for about 6 years now. Aaaaaaaand I'm thinking of getting a wireless pad. I just hate how the cord is always in the way when I want to type something.

So, I know there are options such as the PS4 pad which works on PC too. Or the XBox 360 looking gamepad which I believe Chrissie and Tinus have. Or some crappier ones.

I'm not however willing to spend 50-60 euros on a gamepad, wireless or not. I paid like 10 euros on this one and it's been great, still is. But I just hate the cord

I do have a PS4 controller and I did try it, but with Bluetooth it's just not as good. There's a bit of latency too and from what I tried it with TM, it's kind of hard to play then.

So please, especially if you have experience with wireless PC gamepads, suggest. I can do googling myself if needed and I've done some already

I use 360 cable one. Wireless for me doesn't work. My point is battery charge ( like someone i know that in a match is battery went off ), wireless not working properly. So that is why i both it with cable, always work. About the typing, stop being lazy my cable it's not on top of the keyboard.
About money that one depends on you. But my 360 cost 39€ i think, something around it. But better pay a little more then buy something that it's BAD. Xbox 360 just works in every game. I give you an example. I have Tony Hawk HD and with my Logitech F510 the controls were completely wrong. Not with 360.

also i think Talu gots a good point, also the reason why i take wired, battery..
and wireless maybe more expensive (in holland at least)

Lazy isn't an issue. The cable just is always in the way. So lets keep this about wireless pads please

Supposedly Razor and Logitech have a couple of good ones that are basically market leaders. Optimally something like a PS4 controller would be great as they can be charged with the micro-USB. But damn BT just suck and the latency is just too big :(

Logitech F710 is said to be very good and I do like Logitech personally. Also the PS design fits my grip a bit better. Problem is that there's a word out there about Win 8.1 support being crap and it possibly not working too well. But then again, some say that there are no problems with Win 8.1. The Unifying receiver should enable me to connect my keyboard, mouse and controller to same receiver. Though that hasn't been the case when attempting to connect my Logitech headset to it. So I ought to find out more about this

Thrustmaster (T-Wireless model) has a wireless pad as well, but somehow they seem crap to me.

From wired controllers, the Razer Sabertooth has been in line with the F710 for the best controller for PC. It has a Xbox design and while I'm not unfamiliar with the design and could probably get used to it rather quickly, Razer as a brand is not familiar to me at all. So if I wanted to go with the wired version, I'd probably get what I already have or a Xbox version. Cost around 70-80 euros too so that sucks. Could get it cheaper from the US Amazon, but meh.

Sup Dore's ^^

From My own "research", most people seem to use either a Logitech pad or an Xbox style pad.

I've been using the Logitech rumble pad 2 for ages now (basically the same as the Action Gamepad 2). It suits my grip perfect, But when upgrading to the wireless F710, I found that the battery pack sticks out at the back, it forces your fingers down the handle, and to an unconformable position which compromises the grip. that's why I still use a wired controller. But maybe that's just me...

Dualshock 4 with a bluetooth dongle works perfectly. You just need to download the free DS4 Xinput Tool and you will need to charge the controller regularly.

For me the PS4 has a 14-34ms latency. Average being around 19-20ms.

But issue seems to be reconnecting the controller again. I did it again what I did the first time, but nope. Do you need to pair the controller again every time?

Got myself a XBox 360 Wireless controller with a receiver. Official package for 50 euros. Amazon has the same package for about 40 euros, but I got this from a local shop so I'll be trying this out today

Official receivers are sold for about 20 euros apparently and 3rd party receivers for under 10, but oh well. I hope the quality works. I saw a video where the guy recommended the official one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the trigger button, is it possible to adjust your throttle? Like with keyboard or lousier gamepads, you either press the button 100% or 0%. But to my understanding the xbox controller makes it possible to press it 40%, 60% or anything else? I reckon this would be beneficial in turns especially.

I shall have a funeral for my current gamepad this summer. Basically I'll probably smash it on the asphalt and let go some of my TM frustrations that have been piling up over the years

if the game support that you can use it. but Trackmania doesn't. trackmania acceleration is pure digital. 100% or nothing. if they would support it, all keyboard player would cry.

Okay. Well glad I didn't buy it for that, but for the wireless. And because my pad is like 10 years old.

That thing you asking about the throttle it's as Nuls says i think, or maybe something that we don't know about it ( my suspicions of cheating can blow off if this was possible ) . That it's something that i'll love in this game but i never try it because i think it's 0% or 100% like a keyboard. I also play Dirt 3, Grid 2 and Grid Autosport and with my other pad ( Logitech f510 ) the trigger didn't work in any of this games, well work in the bases 0% 100%. But the Xbox work as if it was in the Xbox console. When i was trying to find the plug in for the rumble ( i like it and it's not to much like in Tm1 and doesn't distract me at all i'm use to it ) i also saw some other plug ins to manage all buttons and bla bla bla, yes bla bla bla because i didn't pay attention to it, but i don't know, maybe something that can make magic for tm and a trigger
I don't know if your pad comes with additional drivers like a cd but my one nothing, Windows takes care of it, but better get the drivers for it and you'll get then a little controller with additional things like in the Pic. Nothing WOWWW but

Yea that's not much of what I'd need. It did come with a CD, but I threw it away because I don't even have a CD drive

And it is as nuls said, it does not support analog throttle. Unfortunately. I mean I get the advantage you'd get by using a gamepad, but then again... Would be more realistic which brings me to a point of TM itself. It's very arcade after all

It's not expensive. The receiver's the expensive one. It's an official product and around 20 euros. The pad itself is just 40 which I think is definitely worth it to get it wireless.
